Out of Bounds in Singapore

Hai semua, seminggu jugak lah nak update ni, bukan apa nak sort out gambar yang lama tu..He..he..alasan je tu. Anyway, let's move on... This time around, we headed to Geylang Serai for accomodation. Perfect location for makan2 and senang to take public transport. Our target besides cuti2, we headed to this uncommon area to shop. It is located at Sungei Road and known as Thieves Market. Actually we also have this kind of market at our place, kalau tak silap kat area Petaling Street dekat dengan bus stand Klang.

This place has been here for such a long time and considered as the oldest flea market in Singapore. Ala kira2 kalau ada barang hilang kat Singapore tu, cuba cari kat sini, tapi itu dulu, nowadays they have to declare their items beforehand, just to make sure we're not buying stolen goods(God knows whether it's true!) Tapi Faizal and I really enjoyed ourselves there, from clothes to household to electrical goods, boleh katakan anything you can think of...ada kat sini. I guess we are tired of shopping malls (ye ke?..), just to get another look of Singapore.

Kalau ikutkan vendors memang pecah rumah punya, tapi diaorang ni cool but you have to follow their style when you're bargaining. Bak kata orang Berani Mati punya style. Sempat jugak lah dapat barang2 yang menarik. If you wanna come here, take MRT to Bugis Station, walk on Rochor Road until you hit Jalan Besar, turn right you will see the unchoreographed market that awaits you. The best time to visit is actually at 3pm onwards unless you can stand under the hot sun! Open daily till 7pm.

Ishk..ishk..
Our next destination, Universal Studios but unfortunately tickets dah habis. We went there just for Hard Rock Hotel & Cafe (wohooo! I have completed all Singapore's HRCs) and at the same time trying our luck to get through. Tapi takpe, we have plan to go again with a bunch of our friends! For those who're going to Universal Studios soon, do book online. There's one thing yang kat sini lain, cuaca panas tak ingat tak boleh imagine kalau naik ride tengahari buta. Kena lulur sun block satu badan la...agaknye.

As usual, Singapore Great Sale is not what I expected, taklah murah sangat tapi bolehlah...Mustafa Centre satu lagi tempat kitaorang shopping, tapi yang berkenan di hati Faizal DVDs Hindustan dia...hmmmmm...Ada satu lagi tempat yang quite interesting Tampines area just outside the MRT Station, kat situ ada mall yang kalau nak shopping ok jugak la...

For 3days/2nights holiday, we ended with our Top 5's list:

1. Joo Chiat Road - for accomodation
2. Hjh Maimunah Restaurant & Pasar Geylang Serai - for breakfast/lunch/dinner
3. Sg. Road - unusual shopping spree
4. Mustafa Centre - for insomnia, because it's 24hrs shopping mall
5. Universal Studios - Singapore's latest attraction

What a weekend...

Wow! Cepat betul masa berlalu dan after two weeks from our hassle and bustle grand opening of Bazaar @ Maeps, finally we’ve found time to update this blog.

Alhamdulillah, the event went on successfully even though, there’re problem with tents, electric & power supply plus hot weather and unsuspected thunderstorm. (By the way, our stall remain “bergelap” for the whole evening). The crowds were encouraging besides clashing date with another big event, Wow! Putrajaya. Not as what we’re expected but it managed to attract some new visitors besides our regular. Thumbs up to the organizer for their efforts and hopefully it will be improved in the coming years.

If you’re looking for a different kind of night market rather than your typical and so predictable uptown & downtown market, come to Bazaar @ Maeps. Introducing the concept of Flea market & Carboot Sales which are popular in countries like UK, Australia and United States. It is divided into several categories like pakaian & aksesori, barangan am, karaoke sessions, makanan & minuman, unwanted household & collectibles items (ala-ala Pasar Karat in Ipoh and Penang). So, pada para pengemar barang-barang rare & collectibles in Klang Valley, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya, this is the new place in town, to cater your needs other than your usual Shah Alam and Amcorp Mall market.

By the way, last weekend we had a break from carbootsales, instead we celebrated Fateehah (our niece) 6th birthday. She had a blast with her wonderful castle cake plus her favorite pink balloons. She has grown up to be a very nice girl.

Are you guys planning to go anywhere which is cheap, nice and exciting? We have somethin' on our mind but haven't finalised yet. As usual, trying to keep the budget as lowest as we can without jeopardizing the "FUN" part. Actually we been inspired by our winning entry on Gaya Travel Magazine. Everytime we see it, we keep telling ourselves... We have to go somewhere...closer... before the so called "BIG" trip.

Melangkah Mengejar Mimpi

Harap-harap ianya akan turut ditayangkan di Malaysia or else we’ll be going there to watch it.. hehe!

Laskar PelangiAndrea Hirata Novels
Honestly, we started to know about Andrea Hirata first novel “Laskar Pelangi” through Nidji hit song by the same title for the movie soundtrack. The catchy tune and it’s beautiful lyric grabbed our attention to know more about this no. 1 best selling novel in Indonesia. (Finally we’ve completed the collection - “Laskar Pelangi”, “Sang Pemimpi”, “Edensor” and “Maryamah Karpov”).

“Sang Pemimpi” continues with Ikal’s life as teenager. This time it tells another plot of the story where Ikal has a cousin, Arai. Adopted by Ikal’s family, Arai being such a wonderful friend, brother, motivator and a shoulder to cry on for Ikal. Shall we say more? Just wait for the movie or you can watch the trailer or read the book.

By the way, we just started our “2nd branch” for our stall at Streetmall, Cyberjaya every Tuesday from 10am - 5pm. If you guys happen to be there, just drop by.
